Racing Incident Report
SPARKLING STAR was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, SPARKLING STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DELIGHTFUL WIN and HOLIGAN were slow to begin. On jumping, MULLAAD and SOLAR bumped. In the early stages, CARRY GOOD NEWS was taken back in an endeavour to find a position with cover, then in the middle stages was left racing wide without cover. A Delpech (SUPER SURPRISE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of OWNERS LAD, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded for room and lose its rightful running. In this incident, crowding was also caused to CHIMERA. A Delpech was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 15 April 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday 4 April 2007. In addition, A Delpech was fined $25,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, after being crossed by FLY ME TO THE MOON, CALIFORNIA LUCK (Apprentice K L Chui) which when proving difficult to settle endeavoured to shift out from behind that horse. When this happened, CALIFORNIA LUCK was disappointed for running between FLY ME TO THE MOON which was ridden to hold its position and CRYSTAL (Apprentice C W Wong). Apprentice Chui was advised to exercise care. Apprentice Wong was told in similar circumstances he should prevent his elbow from being extended away from his body. Shortly after this incident, CALIFORNIA LUCK clipped the heels of FLY ME TO THE MOON. Also approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, TOP TOP LIGHT proved difficult to settle and was bumped by MULLAAD which shifted in after being bumped by SUPER SURPRISE. After the 50 Metres, CRYSTAL was inconvenienced when crowded for room between FLY ME TO THE MOON and TOP TOP LIGHT which was carried in by CALIFORNIA LUCK which shifted ground when hanging. OWNERS LAD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, OWNERS LAD was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, OWNERS LAD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CALIFORNIA LUCK and TOP TOP LIGHT were sent for sampling.
