Racing Incident Report

FAST WINNER began awkwardly, bounded in the air, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of KING'S CHOICE. As a consequence, FAST WINNER lost ground. RAMPANT LION was slow to begin and then for the major part of the race hung out. STEEL NERVES was slow to muster speed. Near the 900 Metres, FAST WINNER was steadied when crowded for room between KING'S CHOICE which shifted out and STEEL NERVES which was carried in by MILLION CHASE. No action was taken. After the 900 Metres, OKEYDOKEY got its head on the side, shifted out and was checked away from the heels of KIMBERLEY MINES. STEEL NERVES, which was racing outside OKEYDOKEY, was inconvenienced in consequence. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, NEW TRIUMPH was shifted out into a three wide position from behind PERFECT TREASURE which at this time did not maintain its position outside KEEN FLYER. As a consequence, MARVELLOUS was carried wider. MILLION CHASE, which was proving difficult to settle, made the turn at the 600 Metres awkwardly. After the 600 Metres, KING'S CHOICE was steadied away from the heels of KIMBERLEY MINES. O Doleuze (OKEYDOKEY) said at no stage of the race did his mount travel comfortably. He said it was reluctant to hold a position behind the speed in the early stages, appeared unbalanced in its action and got further back than anticipated. He said after straightening, OKEYDOKEY when placed under pressure made an abnormal breathing noise and then failed to respond to his riding. MARVELLOUS and OKEYDOKEY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MARVELLOUS and OKEYDOKEY after the race did not show any significant findings. KEEN FLYER, KIMBERLEY MINES and NEW TRIUMPH were sent for sampling.
