Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, CAPITALAND became fractious and sat down in its stall. CAPITALAND was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of CAPITALAND. As CAPITALAND has displayed poor barrier behaviour previously, the horse will have to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, HOLIGAN was crowded for room between PRIME DELIGHT and VICTORY START. Shortly after the start, when being steadied to shift across behind runners from a wide gate, STAY YOUNG got its head up. At the 1500 Metres, PRIME DELIGHT was bumped by PACKING ANGEL. Near the 1300 Metres, PRIME DELIGHT was crowded for room inside SUNBELL which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in. At the 1300 Metres, PACKING ANGEL was momentarily crowded for room inside KOWLOON FIT which after being shifted across behind runners was ridden along to improve its position and was carried in slightly by HOLIGAN which shifted ground. No action was taken. In the early stages, KING OF FISH travelled wide and without cover and near the 1100 Metres was steadied to shift behind HOLIGAN. After entering the Back Straight, KING OF FISH got its head on the side and hung out. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, PACKING ANGEL was momentarily crowded for room inside KOWLOON FIT which got its head on the side and shifted in. After this, KOWLOON FIT shifted out to a three wide position and commenced to improve. Apprentice K L Chui (PACKING ANGEL) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 500 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of VICTORY START, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. When VICTORY START checked, SUNBELL which was following was checked in consequence. Apprentice Chui was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 10 May 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Tuesday 1 May 2007. In addition, Apprentice Chui was fined $10,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. Throughout the race, HOLIGAN travelled wide and without cover. The performances of HOLIGAN and VICTORY START, which tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, HOLIGAN and VICTORY START will both have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HOLIGAN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HOLIGAN after the race did not show any significant findings. JUBILOSO and PRIME DELIGHT were sent for sampling.
