Racing Incident Report
SNIPER began awkwardly and lost ground. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, NEW TAMAR failed to show speed and consequently raced back in the field. Passing the 200 Metres, STAR PRODIGY shifted in whilst being ridden out with the whip, resulting in CHALLENGER being inconvenienced. For the majority of the race, SHOW BRAVELY raced wide and without cover. The performance of WIN FORTUNE, which finished at the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WIN FORTUNE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding his easing TELECOM TYCOON out of the race approaching the 1000 Metres, E Saint-Martin stated he was happy with the horse's action prior to the race, however, for some distance passing the 1200 Metres TELECOM TYCOON was unable to hold its position between NEW TAMAR and SPECTACULAR HIT and in his opinion its action worsened to the point where it caused him concern. He further added that due to TELECOM TYCOON's action, he believed it was in the best interest of the horse for it to be eased out of the race. Before being allowed to race again, TELECOM TYCOON will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned, Apprentice K T Yeung (KNIGHT TEMPLAR) said he had been instructed to have the horse positioned in about 4th or 5th position. As such, he ensured KNIGHT TEMPLAR began well which it did and he immediately took hold of his mount in an endeavour to find cover. He said when no other horses raced to his outside, he was obliged to race outside of the leader, WISHING WELL. He added once racing outside of WISHING WELL, the tempo of the race increased, but he was reluctant then to come back on his horse as it is somewhat one-paced. W M Lai (WISHING WELL) stated when KNIGHT TEMPLAR improved to his outside in the early stages, WISHING WELL commenced to over-race and although he was aware that the tempo of the race was faster than he would have preferred, he was unable to settle WISHING WELL. TELECOM TYCOON, KNIGHT TEMPLAR and SHOW BRAVELY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TELECOM TYCOON, KNIGHT TEMPLAR and SHOW BRAVELY after the race did not show any significant findings. DANEPRINT and RED FORTUNE were sent for sampling.
