Racing Incident Report
SEASONS KNACK and THE GOODIES were slow to begin. Near the 1600 Metres, SEASONS TREASURE, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of MAVERICK which at this time became unbalanced, shifted in and bumped the running rail when being steadied away from the heels of GREEN IN BLUE which also shifted in and bumped the running rail when awkwardly placed close to the heels of LIAOBUQI. After entering the Back Straight, SEASONS KNACK got its head up and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of THE GOODIES. At the 600 Metres and again at the 450 Metres, MAVERICK was tightened for room inside SUCCESSIVE GAINS which when under pressure lay in. Over the concluding stages, GREEN IN BLUE was inclined to lay in behind LIAOBUQI. When questioned regarding the improved performance of LIAOBUQI, Mr C Fownes, trainer of the horse, explained in his opinion the horse was suited by the conditions of tonight's track which had some give in it. He added LIAOBUQI as it had shown in the past was suited by being able to dictate the pace of the race at a steady tempo. He did say the performance of LIAOBUQI had surprised him somewhat and was not anticipated. SEASONS KNACK was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SEASONS KNACK after the race did not show any significant findings. THE GOODIES, LIAOBUQI and GREEN IN BLUE were sent for sampling.
