Racing Incident Report
NORTHERNER began awkwardly. In the early stages, TOM'S SIX was taken across behind runners. Approaching the 1400 Metres, ALL CHANCES got its head up when being steadied to allow DR WELL to cross. Some inconvenience was caused to BULLISH CASH. Near the 800 Metres, ALL CHANCES got its head on the side and hung out across the heels of ELECTRONICS SPUR. BULLISH CASH, which was racing to the outside of ALL CHANCES, was hampered and carried wider as a consequence. After this, BULLISH CASH continued to race wide and without cover. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, DR WELL, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied to avoid the heels of GO JOHNNY GO (G Mossé) which shifted in when not properly clear. G Mossé was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. In the early part of the Straight, NORTHERNER had difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 300 Metres, BULLISH CASH was hampered and carried wider by DR WELL which was carried out by TOM'S SIX which in turn was carried out by ELECTRONICS SPUR. At the 200 Metres, TOP HONOR was steadied when unable to obtain clear running between GO JOHNNY GO and NORTHERNER. G Mossé was not able to offer any explanation for the poor performance of GO JOHNNY GO. He said he was able to obtain a forward position without having to apply too much pressure, however, in the early and middle stages GO JOHNNY GO was inclined to hang in. He said in the Straight GO JOHNNY GO responded to his riding for a short distance only and was then most disappointing in the manner it which it failed to closed the race off. SOCRATES and GO JOHNNY GO were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, SOCRATES was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. A veterinary inspection of GO JOHNNY GO after the race did not show any significant findings. PACKING WINNER and DORDENMA were sent for sampling.
