Racing Incident Report

Shortly after the start, NORTHERNER, which was being taken back, was steadied when awkwardly placed between PRIME DELIGHT and MAN IN THE MIRROR which shifted in slightly. Making the turn after the 2000 Metres, SOUTH BREEZE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of EYE WITNESS. As a consequence, inconvenience was caused to PRIME DELIGHT and NORTHERNER. At the 1800 Metres, SOUTH BREEZE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of PRIME DELIGHT. For some distance passing the 1600 Metres, GO JOHNNY GO raced tight inside MAN IN THE MIRROR. After the 600 Metres, GO JOHNNY GO became unbalanced and dipped. In the Straight, SIR GALAHAD hung in. The performance of STOLEN THUNDER, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, STOLEN THUNDER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. G Mossé (PRIME DELIGHT) said his mount travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages. He said near the 700 Metres he commenced to apply some pressure to his mount in an endeavour to improve his position. He said PRIME DELIGHT responded, however, making the Turn was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GO JOHNNY GO and became unbalanced. He said after this PRIME DELIGHT appeared to change in its action, however, continued to make some ground in the early part of the Straight. He said over the concluding stages PRIME DELIGHT which was racing over 2200 Metres for the first time tonight gave ground and was disappointing. When questioned regarding the poor performance of KINGSGATE GLORY, Apprentice K L Chui said his mount travelled comfortably until the 600 Metres where it was placed under pressure. He said KINGSGATE GLORY failed to respond to his riding and in the Straight gave ground badly. KINGSGATE GLORY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KINGSGATE GLORY after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of KINGSGATE GLORY, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, KINGSGATE GLORY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SOUTH BREEZE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SOUTH BREEZE after the race did not show any significant findings. PRIME DELIGHT, EYE WITNESS and DASH AHEAD were sent for sampling.
