Racing Incident Report
PILLOW KING bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. Shortly after the start, FANTASTIC WIN was hampered, CALL ME CULLEN and REWARDING STAR were checked when crowded for room inside HAPPY ASH which after initially being carried in by KINGSTON GLORY shifted in further away from that horse. In this incident, REWARDING STAR clipped the heels of HAPPY ASH and blundered. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, KINGSTON GLORY got its head up and was checked severely away from the heels of HAPPY ASH after initially being carried in by TABBRIS (Apprentice K T Yeung) which shifted in when not quite clear. As the Stewards were satisfied KINGSTON GLORY itself had contributed significantly to this incident, it was decided Apprentice Yeung be warned for shifting in when not properly clear. REWARDING STAR, which was following KINGSTON GLORY, was checked away from the heels of that horse, shifted in and bumped SPEED OF LIGHT. Near the 1300 Metres, SPEED OF LIGHT was checked when crowded for room inside KINGSTON GLORY which got its head on the side and shifted in away from BAUHINIA. No action was taken. After the 1200 Metres, SERIOUS PLAY was left racing wide and without cover. After the 900 Metres, FANTASTIC WIN was steadied away from the heels of RIGHT CHOICE which itself was steadied away from the heels of SPEED OF LIGHT. On straightening, SERIOUS PLAY was steadied when awkwardly placed between CALL ME CULLEN and PILLOW KING. Approaching the 200 Metres, CALL ME CULLEN was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between BAUHINIA and REWARDING STAR, both of which were giving ground. Near the 100 Metres, FANTASTIC WIN was steadied when disappointed for running between REWARDING STAR and RIGHT CHOICE. After this, FANTASTIC WIN continued to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of RIGHT CHOICE and as a consequence was not fully tested. Over the concluding stages, PILLOW KING hung in. When questioned regarding the poor performance of REWARDING STAR, D Beadman said his mount did not handle tonight’s track conditions. REWARDING STAR was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, REWARDING STAR was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings other than the horse had lost its right front plate. SERIOUS PLAY and FANTASTIC WIN were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SERIOUS PLAY and FANTASTIC WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. SPEED OF LIGHT and PILLOW KING were sent for sampling.
