Racing Incident Report

GLOBAL WIN from the outside barrier was taken back across behind runners. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, VICTORY TREASURE failed to muster speed. Near the 1500 Metres, SUPER PEGASUS was steadied when crowded for room inside TERRIFIC BRETHREN which was carried in slightly by SHANGDONG GENERAL. After entering the Back Straight, INDUSTRIAL MARVEL was left racing wide and without cover. Making the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, THREE CLUBS was steadied when having difficulty obtaining clear running. On straightening, VICTORY TREASURE was steadied and shifted out to obtain clear running. Shortly after straightening, SUPER PEGASUS was steadied when disappointed for running between TERRIFIC BRETHREN and SHANGDONG GENERAL. For the major part of the Home Straight, SIR GALAHAD was unable to obtain clear running and because of this was not tested. When questioned regarding the improved performance of SOUNDS FANTASTIC, Trainer A T Millard said he had been disappointed with the manner in which the horse had finished its most recent race off. He said because of this he had increased the intensity of track work given to SOUNDS FANTASTIC. He said despite it being anticipated today’s race would be run at a fast tempo, he instructed S K Sit who rode SOUNDS FANTASTIC to endeavour to have the horse in a forward position. He said when SOUNDS FANTASTIC was going to be left racing wide on the track approaching the first turn, S K Sit steadied his mount and took it back to a rearward position. He said in his opinion because of the fast tempo of the race this assisted SOUNDS FANTASTIC as the leaders of the race gave ground in the Straight. SUPREME GOLD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, SUPREME GOLD was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME GOLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TERRIFIC BRETHREN, SOUNDS FANTASTIC and ROCKET WIN were sent for sampling.
