Racing Incident Report
SUPER HONEY was withdrawn on 14.10.08 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality). Before being allowed to race again, SUPER HONEY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. From the outside barriers, MAGIC TURBO and DIVINE TOUCH were taken back in the early stages. Shortly after the start, SOU MA TAM was bumped by GOLDEN WIN which got its head on the side and shifted in. After the 1100 Metres, GOLDEN WIN was checked when crowded for room between SOU MA TAM which was carried out by CASH MONEY which had its head on the side and shifted ground and BE MY SONG which was carried in by WITHALLMYHEART. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, WITHALLMYHEART was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of CLASSA FOR EVER. At the 800 Metres, WITHALLMYHEART was left racing wide and without cover. Making the Home Turn, MAGIC TURBO was held up and unable to improve. In the early part of the Straight, MAGIC TURBO was shifted wider in an endeavour to obtain clear running and after the 100 Metres was shifted to the outside of WITHALLMYHEART to continue going forward. In the run to the line, NORDIC STAR hung in. When questioned regarding the poor performance of BE MY SONG which was successful at the Sha Tin racemeeting held last Sunday, M W Leung said the horse was not suited when taken on in the lead. He said at the Sha Tin racemeeting BE MY SONG obtained an uncontested lead which it was not able to do tonight. He said BE MY SONG appeared reluctant to maintain its position inside CLASSA FOR EVER and was under pressure throughout the race. He said in the Straight BE MY SONG gave ground. BE MY SONG was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, BE MY SONG was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. The performance of BE MY SONG was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, BE MY SONG will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SOU MA TAM, NORDIC STAR and DIVINE TOUCH were sent for sampling. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on GOLDEN WIN at the request of Trainer P O'Sullivan. He said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
