Racing Incident Report

On jumping, JOYFUL WINNER was taken back. Near the 1400 Metres, EXCELLENT BOY got its head up when being taken back to a position behind JACKPOT DELIGHT. In the early stages, EGYPTIAN RA proved difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. At the 900 Metres, FELLOWSHIP was steadied away from the heels of VIVA MACAU. For some distance after this, FELLOWSHIP continued to race close to the heels of VIVA MACAU. Near the 800 Metres, BULLISH LUCK was left racing wide and without cover. JOYFUL WINNER made the turn at the 800 Metres awkwardly. At the 800 Metres, EXCELLENT BOY was steadied away from the heels of JACKPOT DELIGHT. Between the 700 Metres and the 600 Metres, FELLOWSHIP and GOOD BA BA bumped on several occasions as FELLOWSHIP shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of VIVA MACAU and BULLISH LUCK. At the 200 Metres, VIVA MACAU, which was giving ground, was checked to avoid the heels of JACKPOT DELIGHT (B Doyle) which got its head on the side and shifted out as B Doyle was changing the whip into his left hand. B Doyle was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding, straighten his mount and make a greater effort to protect his fellow riders. Also at the 200 Metres, FELLOWSHIP, which had been experiencing difficulty obtaining clear running since the early part of the Straight, was checked and shifted out when again having difficulty obtaining clear running behind BULLISH LUCK and GOOD BA BA which bumped. Throughout the race, HAWKES BAY travelled wide and without cover. GOOD BA BA and VIVA MACAU were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOOD BA BA and VIVA MACAU after the race did not show any significant findings. FELLOWSHIP, VIVA PATACA and EGYPTIAN RA were sent for sampling.
