Racing Incident Report

SUNNY POWER began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped MEDIC POWER. As a consequence, SUNNY POWER lost ground. On jumping, GREEN BIRDIE was crowded for room between FRIENDLY GAINS and INSPIRATION, both of which shifted ground. After the 900 Metres, SUNNY POWER, which was improving its position towards the inside of INSPIRATION (M Du Plessis) was steadied when INSPIRATION shifted in when not properly clear. M Du Plessis was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care.. M Du Plessis pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that commencing to make the turn at the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of GREEN BIRDIE, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded for room and checked. M Du Plessis was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 7 December 2008 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday 30 November 2008. At the 700 Metres, INSPIRATION was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of ABLE ONE. In the early part of the Straight, ABLE ONE and HIGH POINT had difficulty obtaining clear running. For a considerable distance after straightening, INSPIRATION had difficulty obtaining clear running, then after the 200 Metres became unbalanced when improving into a narrow run on the inside of SCINTILLATION. At the 350 Metres, SUNNY POWER was steadied and shifted out to obtain clear running. Throughout the race, DIM SUM travelled wide and without cover. MEDIC POWER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MEDIC POWER after the race did not show any significant findings. ENTHUSED and SUNNY POWER were sent for sampling.
