Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, the tongue tie fitted to JAMESINA was replaced. When the gates opened, SWIFT STRIKE stood flat-footed and lost a considerable amount of ground. As SWIFT STRIKE performed similarly at its only other Hong Kong race start, the horse will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before being allowed to race again. BOUNCER was slow into stride. WALKONTHEWILDSIDE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped WINNING REWARD which was carried in by LUCKYME which on jumping got its head on the side and shifted ground. Shortly after straightening, BOUNCER, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted in to go forward. In the early part of the Straight, WALKONTHEWILDSIDE and LOCAL POWER raced tight. B Prebble (WALKONTHEWILDSIDE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he shifted his mount to the outside of FAT DRAGON when not clear of LOCAL POWER, causing that horse to be carried out and cause crowding on its outside to GREAT LAND'S STAR which as a result lost its rightful running and was checked. B Prebble was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 2 February 2009 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Saturday 24 January 2009. In addition, B Prebble was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. At the 200 Metres, HOLD HANDS was steadied when crowded for room outside BULLISH WIN which had been inclined to lay in, however, at this time was carried out by LOCAL POWER which was carried wider by WALKONTHEWILDSIDE which when improving on the outside of FAT DRAGON was carried wider by that horse. No action was taken. For the major part of the race, LUCKYME hung in. GREAT LAND'S STAR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GREAT LAND'S STAR after the race did not show any significant findings. JAMESINA and BOUNCER were sent for sampling.
