Racing Incident Report
When being boxed, GLENEALY ELITE momentarily became caught up on the back gates of its stall. GLENEALY ELITE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. CLEMENT ELITE began awkwardly and lost ground. MOON CHASER began awkwardly, causing M Du Plessis, its rider, to become unbalanced. As a consequence, MOON CHASER lost ground. From a wide barrier in the early stages, SUNSHINE BOY was allowed to drift back. Approaching the 1200 Metres, LASER TIGER, which was proving difficult to settle, pulled its way into a forward position. On straightening, CLEMENT ELITE was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of MOON CHASER and then had difficulty obtaining clear running until the 300 Metres. For a considerable distance after straightening, MOON CHASER was held up and unable to improve and at the 300 Metres was checked to avoid the heels of WHISKY POWER which was commencing to give ground and was steadied when crowded for room between ALL TIME HIGH and HAPPY ZERO (D Beadman) which shifted out to go forward. D Beadman was told to exercise care. For some distance after this, MOON CHASER continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running. Throughout the race, ALL TIME HIGH travelled wide and without cover. TOWERING FEELING and GLENEALY ELITE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, TOWERING FEELING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, TOWERING FEELING will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also after the race, GLENEALY ELITE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. WHISKY POWER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WHISKY POWER after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of WHISKY POWER, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WHISKY POWER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAPPY ZERO and CLEMENT ELITE were sent for sampling. ELITE were sent for sampling.
