Racing Incident Report

WASABISABI was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, WASABISABI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FAIR NAVIGATOR and SOLAR UP were slow to begin. MEGABUCKS began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 800 Metres, HAPPY REUNION raced ungenerously when being steadied away from the heels of SMART CURRENCY which was shifting out. Approaching and passing the 600 Metres, MEGABUCKS hung in. Near the 400 Metres, XAVERIAN QUEST was checked when momentarily crowded for room between TURF WINNER and BRAVO WINNER, both of which shifted ground. Over the final 400 Metres, SOLAR UP raced greenly and proved difficult to ride. After the 100 Metres, W M Lai (TURF WINNER) dropped his whip. Over about the final 50 Metres, HAPPY REUNION hung out. MY MELODY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported MY MELODY was noted to be making an abnormal breathing noise. He said MY MELODY had previously been reported to be a “roarer”. DOUBLE DRAGON, HAPPY REUNION and SMART CURRENCY were sent for sampling. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that DOUBLE DRAGON was distressed and both HAPPY REUNION and SMART CURRENCY had lost their left front plates. Before being allowed to race again, DOUBLE DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
