Racing Incident Report

MATSUKAZE began awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground. NAPA II was slow into stride. On jumping, GRANDFIELD became unbalanced and lost ground. In the early stages, from a wide barrier, TIBIDABO was allowed to drift back, then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. On straightening, HIGH RETURN, which was close to the heels of GOLDEN BAUHINIA, blundered. For a considerable distance after the 300 Metres, MASTER RIO was hampered and carried wider by REGENCY KINGDOM which when having difficulty obtaining clear running attempted to shift out from behind SOU MA TAM which at the same time drifted wider on the track. No action was taken. Over about the final 50 Metres, QUANTUM EXPRESS had difficulty obtaining clear running. Because of this, QUANTUM EXPRESS was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. For the majority of the Home Straight, SOU MA TAM hung in. GOLDEN BAUHINIA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, GOLDEN BAUHINIA was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN BAUHINIA will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FOREST STAR, DR POSSIBLE and COOL CAT were sent for sampling.
