Racing Incident Report

During the preliminary, MATSUKAZE made contact with a rail. After arriving at the Start, MATSUKAZE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. RECORD HIGH was slow to begin and then lost further ground when awkwardly placed close to the heels of LANCELOT and LUFENG FORTUNE, both of which shifted ground. After this, RECORD HIGH was taken across behind runners. Shortly after this incident, SPICY FRUITY was bumped by LANCELOT which shifted in after being bumped by LUFENG FORTUNE. MY WAY was a little slow into stride, then shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between KING OF SCOTS which shifted in and ALL TIME HIGH which was carried out by SABINA which in turn was hampered and carried wider by MATSUKAZE which on jumping shifted out abruptly. In this incident, SABINA became unbalanced. In the early stages, LANCELOT when being ridden along to go forward hung in. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SABINA hung out. On straightening, LUFENG FORTUNE was bumped and carried wider by KING OF SCOTS which shifted out into clear running. Shortly after this, KING OF SCOTS was bumped by LUFENG FORTUNE which shifted in. For a considerable distance after the 400 Metres, SO PRETTY SO SMART had difficulty obtaining clear running and on several occasions bumped with SABINA. Near the 350 Metres, MY WAY was steadied and shifted out to obtain clear running. Approaching the 300 Metres, SO PRETTY SO SMART was shifted in to go forward. MY WAY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. RECORD HIGH was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MY WAY after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, RECORD HIGH was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. KING OF SCOTS and ALL TIME HIGH were sent for sampling.
