Racing Incident Report

KINGSTON TEMPLE, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 26.6.09 by order of the Stewards (stable transfer). HEALTHY CONTENDER was slow to begin. CHEERFUL HAPPINESS began awkwardly. At the 500 Metres, CHEERFUL HAPPINESS, which had been carried wider by CENTENNIAL SMILE, was crowded for room between that horse and NATURAL ECHO. On straightening, FOREVER FORTUNE was bumped and carried wider by DRAGON BOY which shifted out. LIGHTNING MOUNT, which was following, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of FOREVER FORTUNE. After the 300 Metres, ENERGETIC BOY was steadied and shifted out to continue going forward. At the 150 Metres, W C Marwing (ENERGETIC BOY) dropped his whip. In the Straight, VICTORY MASCOT hung in. Approaching the winning post, CENTENNIAL SMILE (D Beadman) was awkwardly placed inside the heels of VICTORY MASCOT and tight outside ENERGETIC BOY. Because of this, D Beadman was disadvantaged in riding his mount out fully to the end of the race. Throughout the race, TRIUMPHANT GLORY travelled wide and without cover. FISHKING EXCELLENT and CHEERFUL HAPPINESS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FISHKING EXCELLENT after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, CHEERFUL HAPPINESS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, CHEERFUL HAPPINESS will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. VICTORY MASCOT and SPEED OF LIGHT were sent for sampling. <29/6/2009 Additional Veterinary Report> The Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison reported this morning that SPEED OF LIGHT was lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SPEED OF LIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
