Racing Incident Report

LANCELOT shifted out and bumped DECAGONAL at the start. Also at the start, LIVERBIRD was crowded for room between CHEERFUL HAPPINESS and WINFINDER which shifted in. After this, LIVERBIRD was ridden along, however, failed to muster speed. Rounding the Home Turn, COOL RUNNINGS was steadied away from the heels of BERNINI when attempting to shift to the outside of that horse and in doing so bumped WINNER which became unbalanced. Inside the 100 Metres, WADASURPRISE turned its head to the right and attempted to savage MARS EXPRESS. Trainer T K Ng was advised as this was the first occasion on which WADASURPRISE was reported to have acted in this manner, a warning would be placed on the horse. When questioned, W C Marwing (DECAGONAL) stated that in the early stages he rode his mount along in an attempt to clear BERNINI to his inside so as to obtain a position one off the fence with cover. He said however that BERNINI maintained its position to the inside of DECAGONAL with MARS EXPRESS being positioned to the inside of that horse. He said for this reason he was not able to obtain cover as TOUCH LUCKY had shifted in from outside DECAGONAL to obtain a position one off the fence in advance of BERNINI. He said consequently DECAGONAL travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. A veterinary inspection of CHEERFUL HAPPINESS and DECAGONAL after the race did not show any significant findings. DECAGONAL, HIGH LUCK and TOUCH LUCKY were sent for sampling.
