Racing Incident Report
From the outside barrier, THE RIFLE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. FLYING SUPREME shifted in at the start, resulting in TELECOM TOP STAR being crowded for room outside HIGH RETURN. Passing the 900 Metres, SUPERIOR UNIT was steadied to avoid the heels of SEA PRINCE (M W Leung) which shifted in when not clear. M W Leung was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Near the 850 Metres, TELECOM TOP STAR raced tight inside ZEZAO which shifted in momentarily. After the 800 Metres, HIGH RETURN was left racing wide and without cover. In the middle stages, ZEZAO got its head up and raced ungenerously. Near the 100 Metres, C K Tong (NOVEL WINNING) dropped his whip. Passing the 100 Metres, ROCK`N TYPHOON was shifted out away from the heels of MASTER RIO. When questioned, B Prebble stated that PERFECT SPRINT struck the heels of FLYING SUPREME near the 500 Metres when racing behind that horse. He said in the early part of the Straight PERFECT SPRINT quickened for a short distance, but then worked to the line only fairly. He said that, in his opinion, PERFECT SPRINT, carrying 132 lbs on today`s firm track, was not able to accelerate as it has done previously. A veterinary inspection of HIGH RETURN and THE RIFLE after the race did not show any significant findings. PERFECT SPRINT, FLYING SUPREME and SEA PRINCE were sent for sampling.
