Racing Incident Report

EURO POWER and OYSTER were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, GO FAY FAY was crowded for room between HORSE GALORE and GOLD WINNER which shifted out after beginning awkwardly. Approaching the 1000 Metres, OYSTER bumped the hindquarters of EURO POWER, resulting in that horse becoming unbalanced and shifting in, causing OYSTER to be steadied when crowded for room. Near the 900 Metres, MAKE IT, which was proving difficult to settle, was checked away from the heels of JUST CHILL. Near the 500 Metres, JUST CHILL was bumped by OYSTER which at this time hung out across the heels of EURO POWER. In this incident, OYSTER became unbalanced and lost ground. SOVEREIGN FALCON was badly held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight and near the 200 Metres was shifted to the outside of HORSE GALORE to obtain clear running after being crowded for room between that horse and CAGA SPIRIT which shifted away from the heels of DESTINY`S CHILD which commenced to give ground. In this incident, SOVEREIGN FALCON and HORSE GALORE bumped shortly after entering the Straight, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. EURO POWER, which was following SOVEREIGN FALCON, was also badly held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight. Passing the 400 Metres, HORSE GALORE was steadied away from the heels of GOLD WINNER. For the majority of the race, both GOLD WINNER and HORSE GALORE travelled wide and without cover. D Whyte (FULFIL A WISH), which was having its first start at Happy Valley tonight, reported that it had been intended to obtain cover on the horse if possible. He said however when unable to obtain cover, FULFIL A WISH over-raced. He said in the Straight FULFIL A WISH responded well to his riding and finished off the race well considering the manner it travelled during the race. When questioned regarding the performance of DESTINY`S CHILD, Apprentice K W Leung stated that his mount travelled satisfactorily until rounding the Home Turn at which point it got its head on the side and hung out. He said after this, despite his riding DESTINY`S CHILD along, the horse did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in the manner in which it gave ground in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of DESTINY`S CHILD after the race did not show any significant findings. FULFIL A WISH, GO FAY FAY and MAKE IT were sent for sampling.
