Racing Incident Report
Prior to being permitted to race again, BLAZING SADDLES, which was fractious in the barriers, will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. From a wide barrier, ELITE SIXTY-SIX was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Shortly after the start, BLAZING SADDLES was crowded for room between LOVE LOCKDOWN and WATCH WHAT HAPPENS which shifted out. When questioned, Apprentice C Y Ho stated that shortly after the start he commenced to shift HIGH POINT from an outside barrier across behind runners to obtain a position closer to the fence. He said passing the 1000 Metres he was positioned to the outside of the heels of BLAZING SADDLES which he anticipated would shift in to a position closer to the fence and he would be able to follow that horse across. He said however that BLAZING SADDLES remained racing wide and despite being ridden along commenced to become detached from the field, therefore he elected to shift in across that horse’s heels and obtain a position closer to the fence rather than to race wider to the outside of BLAZING SADDLES. He said because of these circumstances HIGH POINT raced further back in the field than had been anticipated. He said after obtaining a position to the inside of BLAZING SADDLES, he commenced to ride his mount along in order to improve his position. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of NORMAN INVADER, G Mossé said that he was able to position the horse in a forward position as instructed in the early stages. He said however that making the turn passing the 600 Metres NORMAN INVADER made an abnormal breathing noise and after this commenced to give ground. He said the manner in which NORMAN INVADER weakened in the Straight was particularly concerning. A veterinary inspection of NORMAN INVADER after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, NORMAN INVADER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of MOONWALK after the race did not show any significant findings. ROYAL PERICLES and TRUE INTELLIGENCE were sent for sampling.
<11/10/2010 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that LOVE LOCKDOWN was lame in its left front knee on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, LOVE LOCKDOWN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
