Racing Incident Report

KHARU was withdrawn on 20.12.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen right fore fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SUCCESSFUL ERA. Before being allowed to race again, KHARU will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WIN-A-LOT began awkwardly. PERFECT TEN began awkwardly and then shifted out, resulting in INDUSTRIAL HERO being crowded onto SUCCESSFUL ERA. BLADE FORCE was slow to begin. Near the 1500 Metres, HIGH LUCK was awkwardly placed close to the heels of EJIMERIC TE SPECSO when being shifted cross behind that horse. For some distance after passing the winning post on the first occasion, INDUSTRIAL HERO got its head up and proved difficult to settle. Near the 100 Metres, INDUSTRIAL HERO was steadied when disappointed for running between GILDED FLIGHT and WIN-A-LOT. After this, INDUSTRIAL HERO was not able to obtain clear running and because of this was not properly tested. When questioned, N Callan stated that he was asked to ride PAPAS in a midfield position if possible. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FORTUNE SPIRIT which was stepping up in distance tonight, Apprentice K C Leung said that his mount, after obtaining a good position, came off the bit as far out as the 1000 Metres. He said he placed FORTUNE SPIRIT under pressure passing the 600 Metres, the horse responded for about 100 Metres before coming off the bridle. He said after this FORTUNE SPIRIT did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE SPIRIT after the race did not show any significant findings. HIGH LUCK, HAPPY MASTER and PERFECT TEN were sent for sampling.
