Racing Incident Report

LUCKY FOLLOW ME was slow to begin. SUPER TEAM began awkwardly and consequently lost ground. From the outside barrier, CHINA WIN was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the 1200 Metres, MORE LUCKY was momentarily crowded for room between LIONS’ FORTUNE which shifted out and DR BULLION which was taken in by HIGH RETURN which got its head on the side and shifted in and away from BENEFACTOR. Near the 1000 Metres, FINEZZA shifted out abruptly when being steadied away from the heels of MORE LUCKY. Passing the 1000 Metres, LIONS’ FORTUNE proved difficult to settle and for some distance was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DR BULLION (D Whyte) which shifted in when not quite clear. D Whyte was advised to exercise more care. At the 800 Metres, DUKE’S VICTORY was left racing wide and without cover. Rounding the Home Turn, DR BULLION was steadied away from the heels of BENEFACTOR which shifted out momentarily. LIONS’ FORTUNE, which was following, was steadied in consequence. Shortly after entering the Straight, MORE LUCKY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DUKE’S VICTORY which at this time was commencing to give ground. Passing the 300 Metres, SUPER TEAM was steadied away from the heels of OYSTER which was shifted in and away from LUCKY FOLLOW ME. Approaching the 100 Metres, OYSTER was shifted to the inside of the heels of HIGH RETURN to continue improving. Near the 50 Metres, SUPER TEAM shifted out abruptly towards the heels of LUCKY FOLLOW ME. After this, SUPER TEAM raced close to the heels of LUCKY FOLLOW ME and consequently was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. Apprentice T H So (OYSTER) stated that at the 600 Metres the horse bounded and became very unbalanced in its action. He said because of this OYSTER lost a considerable amount of ground and then took some time to become rebalanced. This matter was brought to the attention of Trainer D J Hall who was advised a warning would be placed on OYSTER in relation to its racing manners. A veterinary inspection of NOBLE VISION after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that GALAXY TREASURE had bled from both nostrils. LIONS’ FORTUNE, FINEZZA and DREAMS MAKER were sent for sampling.
