Racing Incident Report

K C Leung, the rider of SPEARHEAD, was dislodged from that horse in the Parade Ring when it became fractious. KINGS DOMAIN began very awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with SECRET OF WINNING which became badly unbalanced when taken out onto the hindquarters of ASSURE. Shortly after the start, PACKING KID was checked when crowded for room between VICTORY GENERAL which was taken out by AMAZING SKY and TOUT VA BIEN which was taken in by BEAUTIFUL DREAMER which shifted in after being bumped by OYSTER. Passing the 650 Metres, PACKING KID got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed close to the heels of AMAZING SKY. Near the 600 Metres, KINGS DOMAIN, which throughout the race travelled wide and without cover, shifted out and bumped SECRET OF WINNING which also throughout the race travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. Rounding the Home Turn, PACKING KID momentarily raced tight inside VICTORY GENERAL which shifted in slightly. Shortly after entering into the Straight, NICHOLSON was shifted out away from the heels of OYSTER and then after the 200 Metres was shifted to the inside of VICTORY GENERAL to continue improving. Passing the 200 Metres, JOYFUL JOYFUL was momentarily steadied and shifted to the outside of TOUT VA BIEN. In the Straight, SPEARHEAD got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure. A veterinary inspection of SECRET OF WINNING after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. TOUT VA BIEN, SPEARHEAD and OYSTER were sent for sampling.
