Racing Incident Report

At declaration time, M Chadwick was declared as the rider of both MEGA CHAMPION and HOT ASSET. It was established that M Chadwick had a firm commitment to ride MEGA CHAMPION. As such, the Stewards permitted Apprentice M L Yeung to be substituted as the rider of HOT ASSET. Having in mind the circumstances of this case, M Chadwick was fined a sum of $5,000. GREAT PEGASUS and SUNSEEKER bumped at the start. HOT ASSET was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, MEGA CHAMPION was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. TARREGA, which was slow to begin, was steadied when crowded for room shortly after the start between MIGHTY K and TEAM WORK which shifted out. Making the first turn near the 850 Metres, TARREGA was again steadied away from the heels of MIGHTY K. Approaching the 300 Metres, SHAREMA FEELING and PERPETUAL KINGDOM made contact as SHAREMA FEELING shifted out from behind HIGH RETURN to obtain clear running. TARREGA had difficulty obtaining clear running until after the 200 Metres. Throughout the race, FIGHTING HEART travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that MIGHTY K had lost its right front plate. SHAREMA FEELING, WASABISABI and HOT ASSET were sent for sampling.
