Racing Incident Report

GREEN ZONE and YOUNG TURBO began awkwardly. From wide barriers, JOYFUL LUCK and PROSPEROUS were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Making the turn after the 800 Metres, DANE PATROL got its head on the side and hung out. DANE PATROL continued to hang out rounding the Home Turn which resulted in it travelling wide and without cover throughout. C W Wong (HAWTHORNE) was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 750 Metres when not sufficiently clear of GOOD BOY BOY, causing that horse to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAWTHORNE and to be steadied. G Mossé (DANEWIN WINNING) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 600 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of FREE AND EASY, causing that horse to be checked and lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. YOUNG TURBO, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of FREE AND EASY and PROSPEROUS, which was following YOUNG TURBO, was also inconvenienced. G Mossé was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday, 22 January 2012 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 15 January 2012. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LUCKY TURBO, D Beadman stated that after enjoying a good run throughout the race behind GOOD BOY BOY, he shifted LUCKY TURBO out shortly after entering the Straight and he felt that the horse would close off the race strongly. He said however that LUCKY TURBO did not show its usual turn of foot and came under pressure prior to the 200 Metres. He added after this LUCKY TURBO, despite being ridden out, weakened and was disappointing. He said, in his opinion, LUCKY TURBO raced “flat”. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY TURBO after the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY TURBO, HAWTHORNE and GOOD BOY BOY were sent for sampling.
