Racing Incident Report

At the start, PERFECT CHEERS and SLEEP WELL, both of which began awkwardly, bumped. From the outside barriers, DR WIN and ENTHUSING were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, PERFECT CHEERS, SLEEP WELL and VIVA GUY all raced tight inside ALWAYS SOMETHING which shifted in. At the entrance to the Straight, SUNRISE shifted out and bumped AMBITIOUS TREASURE. Throughout the race, ALWAYS SOMETHING travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUNNY MORE, M L Yeung stated that his mount travelled only fairly until making the Home Turn at which time the horse came under pressure. He said SUNNY MORE did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in that it failed to quicken when asked. An inquiry into D Whyte’s riding of DR WIN, 6th placegetter, over the concluding stages was adjourned until prior to the Sha Tin racemeeting to be conducted on Sunday, 26 February 2012. A veterinary inspection of ALWAYS SOMETHING after the race did not show any significant findings, however, an endoscopic examination was not able to be conducted on the horse post-race. A veterinary inspection of SUNNY MORE and VERY WELL after the race did not show any significant findings. PERFECT CHEERS and SUNRISE were sent for sampling.
