Racing Incident Report
BULLISH FRIEND was difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, BULLISH FRIEND will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. After being loaded, KEEP-A-PIN became fractious and broke open the front gate of its stall. After travelling a short distance, KEEP-A-PIN was restrained, returned to the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, KEEP-A-PIN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. FISHKING EMPEROR was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, MIZZEN GREY was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching the 1000 Metres, EXPEDITE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of RED COURAGE. Near the 850 Metres, RED COURAGE was momentarily crowded for room between HEARTS KEEPER and BULLISH FRIEND which got its head on the side and lay out. After racing wide and without cover in the early stages, KEEP-A-PIN was steadied after the 700 Metres and shifted across behind HEARTS KEEPER to obtain cover. GOAL AND GOLD raced greenly in the Straight when placed under pressure. After the race, it was noted that HEARTS KEEPER had blood present at both nostrils. The Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination of HEARTS KEEPER did not reveal any blood in the larynx or the trachea and accordingly the horse was deemed not to have bled. A veterinary inspection of KEEP-A-PIN after the race did not show any significant findings. BULLISH FRIEND and EXPEDITE were sent for sampling.
