Racing Incident Report

VERY WELL and FLYING UNICORN were badly crowded for room at the start between WINNING BOY which shifted in after beginning awkwardly and GRAND ELITE which shifted out after being bumped on the hindquarters by VERY WELL.
From wide barriers, CIRCUIT STAR and NOBLE DELUXE were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
For some distance after the 1100 Metres, WINNING BOY got its head up on a number of occasions when over-racing and travelling close to the heels of GRAND ELITE which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FLYING UNICORN. MING HOI TREASURE, which was following WINNING BOY, was checked away from the heels of that horse in consequence.
After the 200 Metres, CLASSIC JEWELLERY got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure.
Throughout the race, YUE LU TREASURE travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of VERY WELL, M Chadwick stated that after shifting his mount across behind runners in the early stages, VERY WELL over-raced and had to be checked away from the heels of MING HOI TREASURE for some distance approaching the 1200 Metres He said after this VERY WELL would not relax and near the 1000 Metres shifted out after again having to be checked away from the heels of MING HOI TREASURE. He said after obtaining a position with cover behind CIRCUIT STAR after the 1000 Metres, he shifted his mount out approaching the 600 Metres when it was apparent to him that YUE LU TREASURE, which was racing in advance of CIRCUIT STAR, commenced to give ground. He said as he did not want his momentum to stop due to the manner in which YUE LU TREASURE was travelling, he commenced to improve his position , however, VERY WELL quickly came under pressure and in the Straight gave ground. He attributed the performance of VERY WELL tonight to the manner in which the horse over-raced in the early and middle stages. A veterinary inspection of VERY WELL after the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that MING HOI TREASURE had lost its left hind plate.
CLASSIC JEWELLERY and COMMON GOAL were sent for sampling.
