Racing Incident Report

At declaration time, M L Yeung was declared as the rider of both STREET CAT and RED ADVENTURE. It was established that M L Yeung had a firm commitment to ride RED ADVENTURE. As such, the Stewards permitted W M Lai to be substituted as the rider of STREET CAT. For this declaration error, M L Yeung was fined $2,000.
SECRET SHAM began awkwardly.
STREET CAT was slow to begin.
PSYCHOLOGIST, which began awkwardly, was crowded for room at the start between HOXO and SIR EAGLES which shifted in.
Passing the 900 Metres, PSYCHOLOGIST shifted out and brushed the hindquarters of SIR EAGLES which became unbalanced.
Near the 400 Metres, ATACX was steadied when crowded for room between BIG FOUR which shifted in away from the heels of SECRET SHAM and SIR EAGLES which shifted out.
From the 400 Metres until near the 100 Metres, GOLD EDITION was held up and unable to obtain clear running.
HOXO had to be shifted in for some distance after the 400 Metres in an attempt to obtain clear running. Then near the 300 Metres, HOXO was held up when awkwardly placed behind ATACX. After this, HOXO was not able to obtain clear running until approaching the 100 Metres.
Over the final 200 Metres, BEAUTY SPARKLE got its head on the side, hung in badly and proved very difficult to ride. Because of this, BEAUTY SPARKLE was not able to be properly tested over the concluding stages. The performance of BEAUTY SPARKLE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BEAUTY SPARKLE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial.
Approaching the 50 Metres, SUPER GOAL ELITE shifted in and bumped ATACX which became unbalanced.
Over the concluding stages, ATACX was steadied when unable to continue improving between BIG FOUR and ORIENTAL PROSPER due to both horses shifting ground. Because of this, ATACX was not ridden out to the end of the race as it otherwise would be.
Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of T Angland (HAWTHORNE), 6th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race where circumstances permit.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SIR EAGLES, U Rispoli stated that after giving his mount a good warm up behind the barriers, SIR EAGLES travelled initially for the first 400 Metres in a more prominent position. He said near the 300 Metres SIR EAGLES raced tight between BEAUTY SPARKLE and BIG FOUR which shifted in, however, at this time SIR EAGLES was already under pressure to hold its position. He said after this he rode SIR EAGLES along, however, the horse weakened noticeably and, in his opinion, was very disappointing. A veterinary inspection of SIR EAGLES after the race revealed the horse to be lame in the right front leg and to have sustained cuts to the outside of the right front and left hind cannons. It was also reported that the horse had lost its right front plate. Before being allowed to race again, SIR EAGLES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HOXO had lost its left front plate.
A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY SPARKLE after the race did not show any significant findings.
SECRET SHAM, BIG FOUR and ORIENTAL PROSPER were sent for sampling.
