Racing Incident Report
BOBO DRAGON began awkwardly.
ALL MY GLORY and NIGHTLIGN bumped at the start.
SHAREMA FEELING was crowded for room on jumping between REAL CHAMPION and TATTENHALL FLYER which shifted out after beginning awkwardly.
FLYING IBIS was slow to begin.
From the outside barrier, BULLISH BOY was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Near the 700 Metres, ALL MY GLORY, which was proving difficult to settle, became unbalanced when racing tight inside GOOD FRIENDS MAGIC.
Near the 600 Metres, JOY TOGETHER got its head up and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of KING OF THE DAY.
Approaching the 400 Metres, GOOD FRIENDS MAGIC was steadied when racing close to the heels of NIGHTLIGN which was being shifted out in an endeavour to obtain clear running.
Passing the 400 Metres, SHAREMA FEELING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of REAL CHAMPION.
Near the 300 Metres, BULLISH BOY was momentarily steadied when disappointed for running between FLYING IBIS and SHAREMA FEELING which shifted out.
In the Straight, FLYING IBIS hung in and over the final 200 Metres shifted ground noticeably.
When questioned, R Fourie stated that it had been intended for STAR OF FAME to be ridden in 5th or 6th position if possible. He said after beginning only fairly, he had to ride his mount along in the early stages in an endeavour to cross runners to his inside, however, after the 1000 Metres it became apparent that he would not be able to shift in and obtain cover and consequently raced three wide without cover. He added that after the 800 Metres STAR OF FAME commenced to travel keenly and rather than fight against his mount, he elected to allow STAR OF FAME to improve to race outside the leaders.
The performance of TATTENHALL FLYER, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, TATTENHALL FLYER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of REAL CHAMPION after the race did not show any significant findings.
FLYING IBIS and BOBO DRAGON were sent for sampling.
<14/2/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Officer reported that STAR OF FAME was lame in the left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, STAR OF FAME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
