Racing Incident Report
METREVELLI was slow to begin.
BAMBOO DANCE began awkwardly and from the outside barrier was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Shortly after the start, MOUNT VICTORY was crowded for room after being bumped by LUCKY ARMY which in turn was taken in by BULLISH POWER.
Passing the 1300 Metres, CASA JUNIOR got its head up when proving difficult to settle.
Near the 850 Metres, HORSESHOE FORTUNE lost ground when crowded for room between HAPPY KAISER and LUCKY ARMY which got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of CASA JUNIOR.
Near the 300 Metres, HAPPY KAISER and HORSESHOE FORTUNE bumped.
O Doleuze (HAPPY KAISER) dropped his whip approaching the 150 Metres.
Between the 150 Metres and the 100 Metres, BULLISH POWER, which had its head on the side, was awkwardly placed inside the heels of CASA JUNIOR which shifted in under pressure.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of NOBLE FLIER, W C Marwing stated that as he had been instructed to have the horse in a more forward position today if possible from barrier 2, he gave it a good warm up on the way to the Start and behind the barriers. He said however that despite being vigorously ridden along for a considerable distance in the early stages, NOBLE FLIER did not show any early speed and had to be continuously ridden along the Back Straight to maintain its position behind midfield. He added NOBLE FLIER was travelling poorly in the early and middle stages and for this reason he used the whip on the horse approaching the 700 Metres in an endeavour to have it respond to his riding and travel better. He said despite this NOBLE FLIER continued to be reluctant to stretch out and rounding the Home Turn got its head on the side and lay out when already giving ground. He said he continued to push the horse out in the Straight, however, NOBLE FLIER did not respond to his riding and was very disappointing in its failure to travel well at any stage of the race. A veterinary inspection of NOBLE FLIER immediately following the race revealed the horse to be lame in its right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE FLIER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that CLEMENT SPIRIT had been cut into the right hind tendon region.
A veterinary inspection of HAPPY KAISER immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea.
NOBLE FLIER, BAMBOO DANCE and LUCKY ARMY were sent for sampling.
<3/6/2013 Additional Veterinary Report> HAPPY KAISER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. HAPPY KAISER was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer K L Man this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a restricted action over its all four legs. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY KAISER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
