Racing Incident Report
RACING SUPERNOVA was crowded for room on jumping between SUPER LIFELINE and LITTLE DRAGON which was taken out by FIGHT HERO.
FIFTY FIFTY shifted in at the start and bumped SIMPLY INVINCIBLE.
GREEN CARD and BIG BANG BONG bumped at the start.
From the outside barrier, HEALTHY JOYFUL was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners, however, was forced to race wide and without cover throughout the race.
RISE HIGH was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages, CALIFORNIA JOY failed to muster speed.
After the 1200 Metres, RISE HIGH commenced to prove very difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of runners in front until after the 800 Metres. When RISE HIGH was proving difficult to settle, that horse shifted in approaching the 1000 Metres and inconvenienced RACING SUPERNOVA.
After being steadied to allow CALIFORNIA WHIP to cross near the 1100 Metres, SIMPLY INVINCIBLE became awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse passing the 1000 Metres. GREEN CARD, which was following SIMPLY INVINCIBLE, commenced to prove difficult to settle at this time and shifted out when awkwardly placed behind that horse.
For some distance after the 1000 Metres, SUPER LIFELINE commenced to prove difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of FIGHT HERO. Then making the turn near the 900 Metres, SUPER LIFELINE shifted out away from the heels of FIGHT HERO, resulting in CALIFORNIA JOY being steadied away from the heels of that horse.
Passing the 900 Metres, FIFTY FIFTY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ALMABABY.
FIFTY FIFTY was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.
K Teetan (FIFTY FIFTY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 300 Metres he directed his mount out when not clear of LUCKY DOLLAR, resulting in that horse being hampered when taken out onto FIGHT HERO which in turn was taken out across the rightful running of SUPER LIFELINE, causing that horse to be severely checked. Although Jockey Teetan’s race riding record would normally allow for recognition of a good race riding record when assessing the matter of penalty, having regard to the high degree of carelessness exhibited by Jockey Teetan and the severity of the interference sustained principally by SUPER LIFELINE, the Stewards believed this was not an appropriate case to recognize Jockey Teetan’s good race riding record. Accordingly, K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 25 October 2017 and to expire on Monday, 30 October 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, K Teetan was fined $40,000.
Approaching the 100 Metres, BIG BANG BONG was steadied when crowded for room between CALIFORNIA WHIP which shifted out initially and SIMPLY INVINCIBLE which got its head on the side and shifted in. LUCKY DOLLAR, which was following BIG BANG BONG, was shifted in away from the heels of that horse in consequence.
Throughout the race, BIG BANG BONG travelled wide and without cover.
FIFTY FIFTY and RACING SUPERNOVA were sent for sampling.
