Racing Incident Report
KING GENKI was withdrawn on 10.3.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, KING GENKI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
As T Berry was unable to fulfil the engagement on PEOPLE’S KNIGHT due to being overweight, U Rispoli was substituted as the rider of that horse. T Berry was fined the sum of $5,000.
Whilst in the saddling stalls, FIGHT HERO had its left front plate refitted. On arrival at the Start, FIGHT HERO was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
FIGHT HERO stumbled at the start.
When being steadied to obtain cover shortly after the start, SEVEN HEAVENS got its head up and approaching the 1600 Metres became unbalanced when crowded for room between FIGHT HERO and DR WIN WIN which shifted out when being ridden along. Then passing the winning post on the first occasion, SEVEN HEAVENS travelled keenly when being shifted across to race behind DR WIN WIN and after this continued to over-race.
In the early part of the Straight, IMPERIAL GALLANTRY hung in and proved difficult to shift to the outside of SEVEN HEAVENS.
When questioned, Apprentice H N Wong stated that he was again asked to take up a forward position on DR WIN WIN. He said it was expected that BEAUTY PRINCE would lead the race and it was available to him to race outside that horse or if another runner showed more speed than DR WIN WIN, to take a trailing position. He said, despite him riding DR WIN WIN along for a considerable distance in the early stages, PEOPLE’S KNIGHT showed more early speed than DR WIN WIN and as he was unable to prevent that horse from crossing DR WIN WIN after passing the winning post on the first occasion, he took a trailing position behind PEOPLE’S KNIGHT. A veterinary inspection of DR WIN WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SEVEN HEAVENS had sustained a cut to the left hind stifle.
PRAWN BABA, BEAUTY PRINCE and PEOPLE’S KNIGHT were sent for sampling.
<12/3/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>DR WIN WIN, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. DR WIN WIN was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer F C Lor this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a sore right front fetlock and also have a very stiff and restricted action. Before being allowed to race again, DR WIN WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
