Racing Incident Report
On jumping, INVINCIBLE FRESH shifted out and bumped HOME RUN. Then a short distance after the start, INVINCIBLE FRESH, which was being steadied to obtain cover, was crowded for room between SMART PATCH and HOME RUN which at this time was awkwardly placed inside the heels of INVINCIBLE MISSILE.
From the outside barriers, MR WEALTH and UNCLE STEVE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Despite being hard ridden for some distance in the early stages, HIGH VOLATILITY was slow to muster speed and then for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover.
Passing the 700 Metres, HOME RUN was bumped and taken wider by INVINCIBLE MISSILE which shifted out.
At the 500 Metres, UNCLE STEVE was shifted to the inside of SMART BOY to obtain clear running.
At the entrance to the Straight, MR WEALTH was brushed by INVINCIBLE MISSILE as that horse attempted to shift out. When unable to shift out at this stage, INVINCIBLE MISSILE was badly held up for clear running until passing the 200 Metres.
When questioned regarding the performance of BOMBAY BLITZ, Z Purton stated that the horse travelled well in the early and middle stages and after being shifted to the outside of HIGH VOLATILITY rounding the Home Turn, he expected the horse to finish off the race strongly. He said BOMBAY BLITZ did not quicken as he thought it would and then after the 300 Metres shifted ground on a number of occasions and felt uncomfortable in its action. He said bearing in mind the manner in which BOMBAY BLITZ shifted ground, he eased it down over the concluding stages as he felt that something may have gone amiss with the horse. He added, after the race, whilst BOMBAY BLITZ did not feel sore, nonetheless it was not comfortable in its action. A veterinary inspection of BOMBAY BLITZ immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of BOMBAY BLITZ was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BOMBAY BLITZ will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
RIGHT CHOICE and GALLANT RETURN were sent for sampling.
<11/2/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Officer reported that SMART BOY was lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, SMART BOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
