Racing Incident Report
After being placed in the barriers, LEISURE AND GOLD proved fractious and reared on a number of occasions. Then as the start was effected, LEISURE AND GOLD stood flat-footed and consequently lost a significant amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, LEISURE AND GOLD will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
MULTIPOWER and PACKING AWARD bumped at the start. MULTIPOWER then became unbalanced, shifted in and bumped WIN WIN STAR.
PARTY GENIUS began only fairly and then was steadied after travelling a short distance to obtain cover.
From the outside barrier, SURE WINNER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
From a wide barrier, BELLA BABY was also steadied to obtain cover shortly after the start.
Passing the 1000 Metres, VICTORY SCHOLARS was steadied away from the heels of WIN WIN STAR (R Maia) which shifted in when not properly clear. R Maia was reprimanded and told to ensure that he gives sufficient clearance when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Making the turn after the 900 Metres, GALACTIC shifted in and bumped MULTIPOWER.
Passing the 650 Metres, PACKING AWARD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of EXCEED THE STARS.
WIN WIN STAR got its head on the side and lay out rounding the Home Turn.
Near the 450 Metres, EXCEED THE STARS was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of GALACTIC when being shifted to the outside of WIN WIN STAR as GALACTIC shifted in to race outside the lead.
After being badly held up for clear running from near the 300 Metres until near the 200 Metres, PACKING AWARD was directed to the inside of WIN WIN STAR which shifted out marginally passing the 200 Metres. PACKING AWARD then raced in restricted room inside WIN WIN STAR when attempting to improve inside that horse which resulted in PACKING AWARD being checked after the 100 Metres. As the Stewards were satisfied that PACKING AWARD had not properly established running to the inside of WIN WIN STAR and that WIN WIN STAR had not shifted a great amount of ground in this incident, no further action was taken other than R Maia was advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances.
EXCEED THE STARS lay in under pressure in the Straight and close to the finishing line was awkwardly placed inside the heels of VICTORY SCHOLARS. Consequently, EXCEED THE STARS was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
Throughout the race, GALACTIC travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of LUCKY QUALITY, GALACTIC, LEISURE AND GOLD and MULTIPOWER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PACKING AWARD, PARTY GENIUS and BELLA BABY were sent for sampling.
