Racing Incident Report

JIMMU shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of WINNING GENGHIS which became unbalanced.
FIGURES TWO shifted in at the start and bumped SUCCESS ALLSTARS. After this, SUCCESS ALLSTARS was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
From a wide barrier, THIS IS CHARISMA was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
After travelling a short distance, JIMMU was awkwardly placed outside the heels of JOLLY FOREVER when momentarily crowded for room inside WINNING GENGHIS.
After being ridden along in the early stages to obtain a forward position, WINNING GENGHIS got its head up near the 1700 Metres when awkwardly placed inside the heels of INCREDIBLE as WINNING GENGHIS was being crossed by that horse. WINNING GENGHIS then came under pressure and lay out after the 700 Metres.
Approaching the 200 Metres, JIMMU was steadied away from the heels of PAKISTAN ZINDABAD when disappointed for running between that horse and WEALTHY EMPLOYEE which initially lay out. After this, JIMMU was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PAKISTAN ZINDABAD before being directed to the outside of that horse passing the 150 Metres.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FIGURES TWO, K Teetan stated that as the horse had, in his opinion, run its best races when ridden quietly, he shifted FIGURES TWO across behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier. He said after initially having cover behind THIS IS CHARISMA, FIGURES TWO was left racing in a three wide position and without cover after the 1200 Metres. He said although FIGURES TWO was not able to obtain cover, the horse still travelled well in the middle stages and he anticipated that it would finish off the race well. He said after placing FIGURES TWO under pressure near the 500 Metres, the horse did not respond to his riding and did not quicken as he anticipated. He added he continued to ride FIGURES TWO along in the early part of the Straight, however, the horse was under pressure and then over the final 200 Metres its action deteriorated noticeably. He said although FIGURES TWO felt comfortable in its action after the race, he was concerned by the manner in which the horse shortened stride over the latter stages. A veterinary inspection of FIGURES TWO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of FIGURES TWO, favourite for today’s race and which finished towards the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FIGURES TWO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of INCREDIBLE, Trainer T P Yung stated that prior to its most recent start, the horse had been very disappointing in its races. He said at its last start the horse, in his opinion, had improved noticeably as it had stayed on well in the Straight after racing in a forward position in a race that had been run at a genuine tempo. He said in that race the horse only gave ground over the concluding stages which he believed it was entitled to do given the tempo of the race in the early and middle stages. He said he felt that the step-up in distance to 1800 Metres for today’s race would benefit INCREDIBLE as it would likely be run at a more sedate tempo than its previous start. He added however that whilst he did not believe INCREDIBLE would improve sufficiently to win today’s race, he did expect a much improved performance given the manner in which the horse had performed at its most recent start.
A veterinary inspection of JIMMU and SUPER KIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FIGURES TWO, INCREDIBLE and SUCCESS ALLSTARS were sent for sampling.
