Racing Incident Report

Pla. Horse No. Horse Incident
7 CIRRUS SPEED (K279) Trainer D J Hall confirmed after the race that it was his pre-race instructions for the horse to be ridden in a forward position from its favourable barrier. Sent for sampling post-race.
2 FALCON HUNTER (K503) Sent for sampling post-race.
1 SUNNY Q (J223) Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and brushed GOOD FORTUNE.
4 POWER PATCH (L100) Jumped only fairly.
6 NOBLE FANS (K038) From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
13 WINNING DIAMOND (K216) From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
10 VIVA CHALEUR (G368) No report.
3 FLASH STAR (K431) C L Chau reported that his mount had a tendency to over-race in the early stages and made contact with GOOD FORTUNE on a number of occasions when endeavouring to gain a position with cover. He said, in his opinion, when he was unable to get a favourable position this contributed to the horse’s performance today. Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
14 EXCEED THE WISH (J480) From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
8 GROOVY FEELING (J515) A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
11 QUICK MONEY (K377) Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
9 LEGENDARY IMPACT (K035) A Badel explained that he was instructed to take up a forward position, however, when a number of runners improved to his inside in the early stages he was left with no other option but to ride his mount back in the field to gain some cover. Trainer Y S Tsui confirmed the instructions and was satisfied with Jockey Badel’s decision to go back given the circumstances of how the race panned out in the early stages.
12 YEE CHEONG RAIDER (J176) Was forced very wide on the Home Turn by GOOD FORTUNE. K Teetan stated he was of the opinion that his mount was not comfortable on today’s "Good to Firm” track conditions. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
5 GOOD FORTUNE (H349) Brushed at the start by SUNNY Q which shifted out. In the early stages was bumped on several occasions with FLASH STAR. Apprentice H Y Yuen reported that her mount never travelled at any stage during the event unlike when she rode the horse at its previous start to the point where getting to the Home Turn she made a decision not to pressure GOOD FORTUNE any further and the horse subsequently tailed off. She added that she was concerned for the welfare of the horse, particularly when it was not striding normally and was also mindful that GOOD FORTUNE had previously been diagnosed with an irregular heart rhythm. Trainer P C Ng explained that GOOD FORTUNE has had a similar racing characteristic previously by having a low head carriage in races and today when the first 400 Metres was run outside of standard time this may have contributed to the horse’s galloping action. He added GOOD FORTUNE had worked and barrier trialed well leading into today’s event and would opt for a senior rider for its next race start. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of GOOD FORTUNE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD FORTUNE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments. Sent for sampling post-race.
