2 8 DR WELL (CD165) A Delpech -- Began fairly and niggled along to race in better than midfield 2 wide through to straight. Under pressure 400 M out and ran on well but was unable to find an extra gear to overhaul the winner to settle for 2nd.
3 13 COUNTRY BOY (CB196) F Coetzee TT Jumped fairly and pushed along to race in better than midfield on rail through to straight. Responded well when asked 400 M out but was outpaced by the 1st pair inside final 150 M.
4 1 ABLE KNIGHT (CE079) C W Wong -- Broke fairly from wide draw and pushed along to race in forward position 3 wide in the early stages. After the 1400 M steadily eased back to 3rd place 2 wide to straight. Plugged on fairly to the line without threatening.
5 11 FIRST AMONG EQUALS (CC327) O Doleuze B-/CP1 Jumped fairly and soon raced in a worse than midfield position on rail through to straight. All out 350 M out and only able to run on evenly to the line.
6 6 DAY OR NIGHT (CE137) D Whyte SR Slowly away and shortly after that was crowded for room. Raced at the back on rail to straight. Under pressure 400 M out and made up little ground inside final 250 M to be closest at finish.
7 14 CYPRESS HILL (CE061) C K Tong V Jumped with field and niggled along to race in midfield 2 wide through to straight. Under pressure 400 M out and made little impression inside the final 200 M.
8 3 DAVE'S BEST (CC060) E Saint-Martin -- Broke fairly from wide draw and raced in midfield or better around 3 wide without cover through to straight. Unable to quicken when asked 400 M out and kept on same pace to the line.
9 5 LUCKY SIXER (CC103) W M Lai -- Began well and ridden along to dispute lead 2 wide. Near the 800 M was pressed forward to take outright lead to straight. Headed near the 200 M and gave ground steadily thereafter.
10 7 MIGHTY HUGO (CB413) G Schofield -- Soon settled in a rearward position round 2 wide. Switched out on straightening to obtain clear running but only able to run on evenly to the line.
11 10 MINE HOST (CC064) M Rodd -- Jumped fairly from wide draw and steadily settled in the rear section 3 wide with cover to straight. Under pressure 400 M out but was unable to make much impression.
12 9 MEATH (CE143) R Fradd B-/CP1 Began fairly and steadily settled towards the rear around 3 wide with cover through to straight. Unable to show any running when asked 400 M out.
13 4 DASHING CHAMPION (CC015) K W Tsui SR Broke well from widest and pushed along to dispute lead on rail. Near the 800 M settled back in 2nd place to straight. No extra when asked 350 M out and dropped out steadily.
14 12 TOP HONOR (CE183) S Dye -- Raced in a rearward position around 4 wide without cover through to straight. Made no impression when asked 400 M out.
