Background:
Richard Kingscote began his career as an apprentice with Roger Charlton in 2004. That same year, he had his first ride at Epsom Downs – the course where he landed his biggest win to date in the 2022 Derby Stakes aboard Desert Crown for trainer Sir Michael Stoute. Kingscote has previously ridden in Australia, Hong Kong, Ireland, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, France, Bahrain and Turkey. His first winner came at Lingfield in 2004. He also won the All-Weather Jockey’s Championship in 2021. During the 2024/25 season, Kingscote rode in 10 Hong Kong meetings, winning four races from 42 mounts, including a perfect treble at Sha Tin in March from just three rides. Time For Sandals was one of his most recent G1 winners in the 2025 Commonwealth Cup during Royal Ascot week. He added a further G1 win to his tally with Qirat in the 2025 Sussex Stakes.
