Racing Incident Report
DRIFTING AWAY was slow to jump. HEAVY WEAPON left the gates awkwardly with its head up. SUPER CONQUEROR left the gates a little awkwardly, shifted out and brushed APPLIED SUPREME. For some distance near the 1200 Metres, SUPER CONQUEROR got its head on the side and hung in. For a short distance about the 600 Metres, ROMANTIC VENTURE was awkward between DRIFTING AWAY and the hindquarters of APPLIED SUPREME. W C Marwing (PO ON POWER) said he had ridden the horse in a gallop last Monday on the track. He said this was a good gallop and he along with the Trainer expected the horse would run well tonight. He also said he had been told by the Trainer if he could not lead, he should ride the horse somewhere just off the pace, but at no stage of the race did PO ON POWER get on the bit and generally was very disappointing. Apprentice Y T Cheng (SUPER CONQUEROR) explained he had ridden the horse in recent work and it was hoped the horse would be competitive tonight. He said he had been asked to ride SUPER CONQUEROR somewhere in about 3rd or 4th position if possible, the horse left the gates, he rode along, trying to take up a position, but was unable to do so and got much further out of his ground than had been planned. ROMANTIC VENTURE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
