Racing Incident Report

R Fradd, the declared rider of RED DIAMOND, was found to be excessively overweight. Permission was granted for Apprentice S K Sit to be substituted. Subsequently R Fradd was fined $4,000 for accepting the ride which he was found to be overweight. IDOL was slow away. Rounding the turn and in the Straight RED DIAMOND hung in. About the 200 Metres RED DIAMOND (Apprentice S K Sit) which was continuing to shift ground crowded JOKER onto FLORAL JOY. As a consequence JOKER which was running into the race strongly was checked and shifted out. After considering all the circumstances and the submissions put by Apprentice S K Sit the Stewards decided on this occasion despite the significance of the crowding and the vital stage of the race at which it occurred they would take no direct action beyond severe reprimanding Apprentice S K Sit and telling him that in similar circumstances he must stop riding and straighten much sooner then he did today. The Stewards will allow W Woods (LEGITIMATE) an opportunity of explaining why he appeared to ease the horse down over about the last 100 Metres. IDOL was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
