Racing Incident Report

When questioned regarding the withdrawal of CHIRAG, A S Cruz, Trainer of the horse said that a senior member of his stable staff had mistakenly treated CHIRAG with Gastroguard, medication used for the treatment of stomach ulcers. As a consequence of this Mr Cruz was found by the Stewards to be in breach of Rule 58(i)(b) in that he had been negligent in the running of his stable. For this breach Mr Cruz was fined $15,000. I W Allan was fined $2,000 for declaring D Whyte as the rider of MAJESTIC WARRIOR without having formally confirmed the engagement with Jockey Whyte. It was established that D Whyte had a firm commitment for LUCK AND FORTUNE. KINGDOM OF GOLD left the gates awkwardly. On jumping, PRIVATE LIFE shifted out abruptly and bumped the hindquarters of MIDAS KING. MULTIZEN was slowly away. Near the 800 Metres, EASTERN EXPRESS which was awkwardly placed, lost its running from between PRIVATE LIFE and HERO'S WAY. About the 700 Metres, MULTIZEN momentarily shifted in and bumped HERO'S WAY. Near the 500 Metres, PRIVATE LIFE became unbalanced when awkwardly placed between MIDAS KING and HERO'S WAY. Near the 400 Metres, MULTIZEN accidentally clipped the heels of GUSCOTT. For some distance after this, MULTIZEN was held up in a pocket behind GUSCOTT and tight inside EASTERN EXPRESS. After the 200 Metres, KINDGOM OF GOLD was steadied when crowded between HERO'S WAY and THE BEST WINNER which shifted out slightly.
