Racing Incident Report
On jumping, STAR OF WAH YAN and NAZAKAT II were severely checked when crowded between ME GUINNESS which left the gates awkwardly and shifted in abruptly and SING SING SING which on jumping shifted out. The occurrence was in the opinion of the Stewards accidental. CHEVAL D'OR left the gates awkwardly, shifted out abruptly. Just after the start, SING SING SING and ME GUINNESS bumped. In the early stages, HOLE IN ONE had a tendency to shift out away from CLASSIC CHOICE, this caused some inconvenience to CHARMING STRIDE and also to NAZAKAT II which clipped the heels of CHARMING STRIDE and knuckled. E Legrix (CHEVAL D'OR) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding. The careless riding being that approaching the 800 Metres, he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear. As a consequence of this, ME GUINNESS and HOLE IN ONE were unnecessarily crowded for room, SING SING SING was checked and shifted out. CLASSIC CHOICE, which was following, was hampered in consequence. After taking into account all the circumstances of this case and the submissions put by E Legrix, it was decided the appropriate penalty was he be suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday, 25 February 2001 on which day he may resume race riding. The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting next Wednesday. About the 500 Metres, CLASSIC CHOICE shifted out from behind HOLE IN ONE and as a consequence raced tight with CHARMING STRIDE. Just before straightening, STAR OF WAH YAN was awkward on the heels of CLASSIC CHOICE, then on straightening, shifted to the inside of CLASSIC CHOICE, but was then held up for some distance behind HOLE IN ONE and tight inside CLASSIC CHOICE. In the early part of the Straight, EXPRESS LOT shifted out and brushed KING'S GLAMOUR. Before the 200 Metres, STAR OF WAH YAN shifted to the inside of HOLE IN ONE to obtain running. Inside the 100 Metres, EXPRESS LOT was steadied and shifted abruptly to the inside of WINNING SUPREME to find running and go forward. About 100 Metres out, CLASSIC CHOICE was steadied when crowded between HOLE IN ONE and CHEVAL D'OR which shifted in. Shortly after this incident, HOLE IN ONE was steadied to avoid STAR OF WAH YAN which shifted out slightly. W Woods (GET IT EASY) said in the Straight the saddle shifted slightly to the near side, making it difficult for him to ride the horse out in his normal fashion. CHARMING STRIDE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
