Racing Incident Report

NORTHERN FLYER jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped TEQUILA POP. On jumping, GONLARGO threw its head about. About the 1200 Metres, TRILLION DELIGHT shifted away from the running rail, this caused some inconvenience to NORTHERN FLYER. Near the 600 Metres, JEUNE KING PRAWN was checked when disappointed for running between NORTHERN FLYER and DANSWINNER. Rounding the Home Turn, TRILLION DELIGHT had a tendency to lay out. Just after the 400 Metres, DANSWINNER attempted to improve between TRILLION DELIGHT (C Williams) and IRONIC COMMANDER. At the same time, JEUNE KING PRAWN was endeavouring to improve inside NORTHERN FLYER. As TRILLION DELIGHT was shifting, C Williams made some effort to keep the horse straight, but he was not able to do so. Because of the shifting of TRILLION DELIGHT, DANSWINNER was checked rather severely and JEUNE KING PRAWN was also checked, shifted abruptly to the inside of DANSWINNER to try and find running. Because of all the circumstances, it was decided not to take any direct action, but C Williams was told in similar circumstances he must make a greater effort to protect his fellow riders. Near the 300 Metres, HUNTING LAD, which was giving ground, became unbalanced and CHEERS HONG KONG, which was finishing off quite strongly, was inconvenienced when tightened between GONLARGO and SPARKY which shifted out to try and find running. C Williams said along the Back Straight he was receiving a call from F Coetzee (DANSWINNER) and because of this he felt obliged to race at least one horse away from the running rail until the 800 Metres where he was confident he got well clear of DANSWINNER and at this time he shifted to the rail. JEUNE KING PRAWN was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that JEUNE KING PRAWN was lame in its near side front leg. Before being allowed to race again, JEUNE KING PRAWN will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
