Racing Incident Report

STAR WARRIOR jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of VICTORY WARRIOR. MARTIAL HERO was slowly away. FAIR DINKUM, which had proved somewhat difficult to load, was standing with its head turned slightly to the off side when the gates opened, as a consequence FAIR DINKUM missed the start, then was further inconvenienced by MIR which on jumping shifted out. In the early stages, GLORY HERO, which had left the gates a little awkwardly, was somewhat reluctant to stretch out. In the early and middle stages, MR PRESIDENT raced greenly and made the turn near the 800 Metres awkwardly. In the middle stages, MIR, which was obliged to race wide, was inclined to hang in, then in the Straight hung in rather badly and proved difficult to ride out. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, GLASGOW KISS hung out. In the Straight, WINNING PLEASURE raced greenly, shifted quite a bit of ground and after the 200 Metres as a result of this caused some inconvenience to MY JOY. Whilst being saddled, CHEEKY kicked out and made contact with a wall. The Senior Veterinary Surgeon asked the Veterinary Surgeon at the Start to examine CHEEKY. He advised after trotting the horse up and discussing the situation with the Jockey that CHEEKY was suitable to race. J Egan (CHEEKY) explained today was the first time he had been on the horse's back. He said going to the gates CHEEKY was very upset, shifted ground abruptly several times and almost dislodged him. He said running to the first turn CHEEKY which was proving very difficult for him to settle raced close to the heels of GLASGOW KISS, shifted in abruptly and caused some inconvenience to FAIR DINKUM. He said after this incident CHEEKY commenced to hang out, raced very greenly and today was overall a difficult ride. He said when he first hit CHEEKY with the whip in the early part of the Straight, it wanted to shift in abruptly, he had to stop, endeavoured to balance CHEEKY and ride it out hands and heels before pulling the whip through to his right hand, then in the run to the line although making some ground CHEEKY continued to race ungenerously. CHEEKY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that CHEEKY was sore in both shins. Before being allowed to race again, CHEEKY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
