Racing Incident Report

GALICO, which was having its first race start, left the gates awkwardly. FORTUNE GLORY, which was not standing well, was slowly away. BANK ON IT jumped awkwardly, shifted out, then shifted in abruptly and was momentarily awkward on the heels of GREAT CHIEF. In the early stages, SPEED WIN, which was proving difficult to settle, became unbalanced when awkward on the heels of CITI CENTRE. In the middle stages, BOBO DUCK hung out badly, about 500 Metres out hung out and clipped the heels of CITI CENTRE and knuckled. SKYSTONE, which was following, was checked in consequence and inconvenience was also caused to FORTUNE GLORY. The incident in the opinion of the Stewards was accidental and no action was taken. After the 200 Metres, GALICO, which had a tendency to be racing greenly, got its head up and shifted in abruptly from behind FOREVER VICTORY. In the run to the winning post, WELL EXPRESS was awkwardly placed between SPEED WIN which was shifting in slightly and FOREVER VICTORY and about 50 Metres out WELL EXPRESS was hit under the jaw by the whip of E Legrix (FOREVER VICTORY). GALICO was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said GALICO was making an abnormal breathing noise. He said this was probably as a result of a permanent paralysis of the near side of the horse's larynx.
