Racing Incident Report

On leaving the Parade Ring, DANELAW made contact with a rail. The Veterinary Surgeon examined DANELAW at the Start and said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. CARRY-ON DREAMBOAT jumped awkwardly, then just after the start was steadied to avoid the hindquarters of HOLE IN ONE which shifted out slightly. JADE RUYI shifted out abruptly with its head up at the start, this caused some inconvenience to SING SING SING. About the 900 Metres, JADE RUYI shifted out and made contact with MELROSE STAR. E Legrix (BELOVED PARTNER) was charged with careless riding [Rule 100(1)]. The careless riding being that near the 400 Metres he allowed his mount to shift outwards to improve and in doing so crowded HOLE IN ONE, which was giving ground, onto SING SING SING. As a consequence of this, HOLE IN ONE became unbalanced and was severely checked. E Legrix pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him and after listening to the submissions he put in respect of it, the Stewards were not able to be satisfied to the required standard that a breach of the rule had occurred and accordingly found the charge not sustained. Therefore no action was taken. When HOLE IN ONE checked at about the 400 Metres, BORN SMART, which was following, was checked rather severely in consequence and shifted in abruptly. Near the 200 Metres, MONEY STAR shifted out from behind NAZAKAT II, in doing so brushed BELOVED PARTNER. S Dye (OWNERS' GLORY) said on the way to the Start the horse appeared to stumble several times but in his opinion was not showing any signs of lameness. He said just after the start OWNERS' GLORY again stumbled and as he was concerned with the way the horse was going he eased to a rearward position. He said throughout the race OWNERS' GLORY travelled only fairly and on pulling up again stumbled. As OWNERS' GLORY has caused concern along similar lines previously, the horse will not be permitted to race again until it performs satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and passes an official veterinary examination. OWNERS' GLORY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. S Baster (CARRY-ON DREAMBOAT) said on pulling up the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise.
