Racing Incident Report

REFRESHINGLY was late into the Parade Ring as it had to have its off side front plate refitted. NEW DYNASTY left the gates very awkwardly with its head up, shifted out abruptly and was checked rather severely to avoid the heels of MR PRESIDENT, then in the middle stages proved difficult to settle and again got its head up in the air. When the gates opened, EASTERN TYCOON bounded in the air and then was further inconvenienced when both MR PRESIDENT and UTMOST EASY shifted ground. In the early stages, REFRESHINGLY was obliged to race wide and did not find any cover until about the 800 Metres. Approaching the 1200 Metres, MILLENNIUM LEGEND and BRILLIANT LEADER brushed. About the 1200 Metres, MR PRESIDENT, which was inclined to be pulling, lost its position when awkwardly placed between the hindquarters of UTMOST EASY and ME GUINNESS. Approaching the winning post, UTMOST EASY was steadied when racing close to the heels of BRILLIANT LEADER. A Suborics (BRILLIANT LEADER) said he had ridden the horse in work over the last week and it had been pointed out to him the horse can be lazy in the run. From an outside draw today and over a shorter distance, he was asked to have the horse somewhere in the first 5 or 6 if possible. He pointed out BRILLIANT LEADER from an outside draw left the gates well, was able to shift across with VIKING DANCER and because of the way the race was run took up a position towards the front very comfortably. He considered in these circumstances it was in the horse's best interests to allow it to run along rather than pull it back somewhere behind the leaders. The explanations were accepted. UTMOST EASY and MR PRESIDENT were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said CHUNG ON TREASURE had sustained abrasions to its near side hind cannon.
